"Smart factory" gets used as a label for almost anything with a sensor attached to it. It is worth being specific, especially if you are comparing vendors.

Camera-based Vision AI that continuously monitors restricted zones, equipment areas, and access points — detecting unauthorized entry, loitering, and fire or smoke signatures in real time, and dispatching alerts to control room and mobile devices the moment an event occurs, not after. We have deployed this exact capability as a dedicated geo-fencing, personnel monitoring, and fire/smoke detection system: AI-enabled cameras configure virtual safety zones and trip lines around equipment and control panels, detect entry, exit, and dwell-time violations with full event logging, and flag fire and smoke signatures for immediate escalation — all without requiring wearable tags. The same underlying capability has separately been used for fire, smoke, and oil-leakage detection at a steel plant, and for RFID-and-camera-based intrusion detection at a power utility's restricted areas.

THE PROBLEM

Locomotives, dumpers, and service vehicles move constantly across a plant or yard, and most of that movement is invisible — no record of turnaround time, no alert on speeding or rash driving in restricted zones, no visibility into which loads are delayed and why, until it shows up as a bigger problem later.

GPS-based vehicle and locomotive tracking with real-time location, event tracking (dispatched, arrived, loading, unloaded), and turnaround-time monitoring, paired with FleetCue's driver-behavior and geofencing layer — speeding events, harsh braking, unauthorized zone entry, and route deviation, all flagged as they happen. We have deployed GPS-based locomotive tracking to monitor engine movement between exchange yards and plant loading points in real time, alongside fuel consumption and turnaround-time reporting, replacing what had previously been tracked by radio call and memory.

Production status usually lives on one screen in one control room. The people actually running the shift floor — operators, supervisors, maintenance crews — often have no real-time visibility into targets, current output, or active alarms unless they walk over and ask.

Shop-Floor Broadcast & Wireless LED Displays

The same live production data that feeds Web-SCADA dashboards can be pushed to large-format displays on the shop floor, so production status is visible to everyone working the shift, not just whoever is in the control room. We have deployed LoRa-based wireless data transmission to broadcast real-time weight and production data on large LED displays at an international steel plant, giving shift-floor teams the same live numbers the control room sees, without needing a workstation.

SOPs, quality records, compliance filings, supplier agreements, and ISO documentation typically live across shared drives, email attachments, and printed binders. Version confusion is constant, retrieval during an audit is slow, and access control is either everyone-sees-everything or nobody-sees-anything.
